Welcome to The Drey Inchberry

A squirrel lives in a nest known as a ‘drey’, comprising of a ball of interwoven twigs, lined inside with soft materials including moss, leaves, grass and fir.

"The Drey, Inchberry" is a self-contained cabin built in spring 2021. It is open plan, 6m x4m large (260sq ft), and remarkably spacious inside.  The cabin is very well insulated so comfortable in every season.

It sleeps up to two people and is ideally suited for wildlife photographers and nature lovers or romantic getaways.  It's also a perfect location for solo travellers who receive a £20 per night discount on the full nightly rental tariff.

The cabin sits within the grounds of May Cottage 5 miles west of Inverness.

Named "The Drey" because the local area is populated by wonderful, personable little red squirrels who are always a joy to behold.

Close to both Inverness and Beauly the cabin sits at the edge of the village of Lentran in a stunning rural location with amazing open views to the North over fields to the Beauly Firth and Ben Wyvis. To the South, there are fields and beautiful deciduous woodland. Awaken to the sound of birds singing - many varieties visit the garden and the surrounding area. Look outside and you could see red squirrels bouncing across the lawn; red kites soaring above or rabbits nibbling the grass. In the autumn and winter listen out for the cacophony of the pink-footed geese who frequent the fields and fly in large skeins overhead. In the summer you might be lucky enough to spot an osprey flying to or from its nest.   Look outside at night and you could catch a glimpse of some of the nocturnal visitors to the garden including badgers and tawny owl.   If you don't mind staying up late there's an opportunity to photograph the badgers from a pop-up hide (£25).

The cabin is owned by wildlife photographer and guide Karen Miller who relocated to the Scottish Highlands from the central belt of Scotland in late 2019.  Karen offers photography workshops at a discounted rate to guests including an introduction to wildlife photography, red squirrels and birds in flight.
